Jegede unfolds youth agenda

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ondo state, Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), has spoken on youth empowerment, saying that, if elected, youths would be made employers of labour, instead of job hunters.

The legal luminary and former Commissioner for Justice said his government would give priority to youth empowerment with the aim of making them self-reliant.

Speaking with reporters in Akure, the state capital, Jegede said his government will encourage youths to develop their creative talents.

He said: "the time has come for us to make our youths realise their potentials, that they can be useful for themselves and be responsible for the financial fortune of others if given the right environment to thrive. "The present government in the state has done well in this regard, especially as it affects young farmers, who have practically become self reliant through the various agro business centres in Ore, Auga and Isuada, among others"

The PDP candidate said young graduates will be encouraged to complement the efforts of government in advancing the state.

Jegede also unfolded plans to make farming fascinating for practising farmers and those being wooed into the practice.

He promised to support cocoa farmers and make farming appealing to the youths

He added: "we will give comfort to farmers, leverage on our ability to produce Cocoa and train our Farmers on how to produce premium Cocoa that will add value to earning."

Emphasising the importance of youth in community and national development, the legal icon promised to encourage youths to partner with government.

He said: "We collectively will build a state of our dreams that will be the envy of all as necessary steps are taken to ensure a sense of belonging that will motivate all to work towards achieving the ultimate goal of taking our dear state to its place of destiny."
