The Executive Vice Chairman/CEO,
Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof Umar Dambatta yesterday, said the regulator has concluded plans to establish a Cyber Security Incidence Response Team (CSIRT) exclusively for the telecoms sector. Represented by the Director, Public Affairs at the NCC, Tony Ojobo, during the National Cyber Security Awareness Month organised by the American Embassy in Lagos, he said the establishment of the response platform was necessitated by the reality that all the communications infrastructure in the country are in the hands of the private sector. He said when the CSIRT is established, it will facilitate intervention, swift identification of threats/vulnerabilities and sharing of valuable information and resources to assist in fortifying the resilience of the national cybersecurity infrastructure.
